Answer

Vilmist Capsule Reviews

Vilmist is a combination of two medicines that opens the airways and makes it easier to breathe. It is used in the treatment of asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung disorder in which the flow of air to the lungs is blocked).

The effect of Vilmist may be noticeable after a few days but will only reach its maximum after a few weeks. This medicine must be used regularly for it to show its effect, so take it even if you don't have any symptoms. If you stop taking it before the prescribed duration, your asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) may worsen. It should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks. If an asthma attack occurs, use your quick-relief inhaler (reliever). To get the most benefits from this medicine, make sure you get your inhaler technique right; otherwise, the medicine won’t work well.

The most common side effects of Vilmist are nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, headache, fever, back pain, pneumonia, sinusitis, and cough. You can prevent some of these symptoms by rinsing your mouth and throat with water or brushing your teeth after using your inhaler. There are other, rarer side effects that can be serious. Talk to your doctor if you're worried about them. In general, try to avoid situations which make your asthma worse (your triggers), and do not smoke.

Ask your doctor whether it’s safe to take this medicine if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that they can prescribe a suitable dose for you.

How Vilmist Capsule Works

Vilmist is a combination of fluticasone furoate and vilanterol. Fluticasone furoate works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body which cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies. Vilanterol works by relaxing air passages in the lungs, making breathing easier.

How to Use Vilmist Capsule

Use it as advised by your doctor or check the label for directions before use.

Benefits of Vilmist Capsule

  • In Treatment of Asthma: Vilmist is a combination medicine that works by reducing and preventing swelling and inflammation in your lungs. This medicine does not stop an asthma attack that has already started, but prevents its symptoms, such as tightness in your chest, wheezing, breathlessness, and coughing. This allows you to carry out your daily activities more easily and confidently. Keep taking it regularly as prescribed even if you do not have any symptoms, as it may take a few weeks for this medicine to show full effects. Stopping it abruptly may bring back the symptoms.
  • In Treatment of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Vilmist helps the airways in your lungs to stay open. It relaxes the muscles of these airways. This makes it easier for air to get in and out. It relieves symptoms of COPD, such as tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing, and helps you carry out your daily activities more easily. This medicine is safe and effective. It usually starts to work within a few minutes and the effects can last up to several hours. Do not stop using it unless you are advised to by the doctor.

Quick Tips

  • Gargle with warm water after each inhalation to avoid any fungal infections in your mouth and throat.
  • Learn the correct technique of using metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (DPI) to ensure that the right amount of medication reaches your lungs, and side effects are minimized.
  • Vilmist ‘dampens down’ inflammation in the lungs to provide long-term (maintenance) treatment of asthma and prevent disease progression.
  • Never breathe out into the mouthpiece.
  • Take it at the same time every day to prevent asthma attacks.
  • Do not open and close the cover unnecessarily as you will lose the medicine.
  • Only minuscule amounts of Vilmist may get absorbed into the bloodstream after inhalation. Hence, serious side effects such as weight gain are unlikely.
  • Vilmist will not work for an ongoing asthma attack. Use your rescue inhaler to control sudden difficulty in breathing.
