FAQ

Question
Are there any possible serious side effects of Sectocef LB?
In rare cases, Sectocef LB may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, and allergy. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Answer

Question
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Sectocef LB?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Answer

Question
My child is suffering from liver failure and his investigations showed high blood ammonia levels. Is it safe to give Sectocef LB?
No. It is better to avoid giving Sectocef LB as it contains lactobacillus which can further elevate the levels of blood ammonia and increase the risk of serious complications like coma.
Answer

Question
What if I give too much of Sectocef LB by mistake?
Avoid giving more than the recommended dose because overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition. Although an extra dose of Sectocef LB is unlikely to harm, if you think you have given too much of Sectocef LB to your child, immediately speak to a doctor.
Answer

Question
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Sectocef LB?
Sectocef LB can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Sectocef LB. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Answer

Question
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
No, yellow or green mucus in the nose does not mean that antibiotics are needed. It is normal for mucus to thicken up and change from clear to yellow or green. With symptoms often lasting for 7-10 days, this is exactly how a common cold generally progresses.
Answer
Question
What if I forget to give Sectocef LB to my child?
Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give the double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.
Answer

Sectocef LB Dry Syrup Reviews

Sectocef LB contains two ingredients, one antibiotic and one probiotic. While the antibiotic helps kill a wide range of bacterial infections, the probiotic prevents the antibiotic from causing digestive problems as a side effect. It does so by restoring the balance of good bacteria in the intestine.

Give Sectocef LB to your child with or without meals. Though the risk of developing a stomach upset is less with this medicine, giving it with meals will further reduce the risk. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is time for the next dose.

Sectocef LB may cause some minor and temporary side effects in your child. These may include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy. Usually, these episodes subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.

Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

How Sectocef LB Dry Syrup Works

Sectocef LB is a combination of two medicines: Cefixime and Lactobacillus. Cefixime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Lactobacillus is a live micro-organism that restores the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset with antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections.

How to Use Sectocef LB Dry Syrup

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Dissolve the powder in sterile water. Shake well and use. Sectocef LB may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
