Floxsafe 400 is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.

Floxsafe 400 should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. You should not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.


You may have experience headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and increase in transaminases as side effects of this medicine. These are usually temporary and resolves on its own. However, consult your doctor if they bother you or persist for a longer duration. Diarrhea may also occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools.


You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Special care should be taken in people with kidney problems while taking this medicine.

Floxsafe 400 is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

Floxsafe 400 is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Liver  CAUTION
Floxsafe 400 should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Floxsafe 400 may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Kidney  SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Floxsafe 400 is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Floxsafe 400 is recommended.However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Driving  UNSAFE
Floxsafe 400 may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.Floxsafe 400 may make you feel dizzy or light-headed, you may experience a sudden, transient loss of vision, or you may faint for a short period. This may affect your driving ability.

Quick Tips

  • Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contamination.
  • Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
  • Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
  • It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.
  • Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication.
  • You have been prescribed Floxsafe 400 for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.
