FAQ

Question
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Zithrox Plus Kid?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Answer

Question
How should I store my child’s medicine at home?
Store Zithrox Plus Kid at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight and beyond the reaches of children and pets. Do check for the expiry date of the medicine from time to time. Discard all expired medicines and never save medicines for future illnesses.
Answer

Question
Can Zithrox Plus Kid impact my child’s digestion?
Children often have a sensitive stomach and develop a stomach upset while taking antibiotics. When antibiotics are given, the medicine may kill off the good bacteria along with the bad ones, increasing the risk of developing other infections. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Zithrox Plus Kid, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
Answer

Question
Are there any possible serious side effects of Zithrox Plus Kid?
Some serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Answer

Question
What should I tell the doctor before giving Zithrox Plus Kid to my child?
Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that Zithrox Plus Kid may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.
Answer

Zithrox Plus Kid Tablet Reviews

Zithrox Plus Kid is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child’s eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It may also be given to treat typhoid fever in children and adolescents.

Give Zithrox Plus Kid to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after meals. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with meals. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, your child’s age, and body weight, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake, repeat the same dose but do not double dose if it's time for the next dose.

Do not give this medicine to your child in case of cold and flu symptoms. Such symptoms are almost always a result of viral infections, and antibiotics are ineffective in killing viruses. Antibiotics are given in cough and flu symptoms only when the doctor detects any underlying secondary bacterial infection.

This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. These side effects will disappear once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if they persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.

Share your child’s complete medical history with your child’s doctor. Make sure the doctor knows if your child has or had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

How Zithrox Plus Kid Tablet Works

Zithrox Plus Kid contains two antibiotics, cefixime, and azithromycin. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while Azithromycin interferes with the protein synthesis of bacteria. As a result, the growth of infection-causing bacteria gets controlled and the spread of the infection is successfully restricted.

How to Use Zithrox Plus Kid Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zithrox Plus Kid may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Benefits of Zithrox Plus Kid Tablet

  • In Treatment of Bacterial infections: Zithrox Plus Kid is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. These may include middle ear infections, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, skin and soft infections, abdominal infections, and urinary tract infections. This medicine works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing bacteria by stopping them from multiplying. As a result, the infection starts clearing within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. However, continue giving the medicine as prescribed by the doctor because stopping the medicine abruptly may worsen your child’s condition or bring back the infection.
  • In Treatment of Typhoid fever: Typhoid fever is an infection that spreads through the intake of contaminated food and water. Children with typhoid fever requiring no serious medical attention can be well managed with Zithrox Plus Kid at home because of its excellent activity against organisms causing typhoid fever.
