Pilomax is used for treatment of dry mouth after radiotherapy of head and neck cancer. It works by reducing abnormal dryness of the mouth which makes speaking and swallowing easier.

Pilomax may cause few side effects such as sweating, frequent urge to urinate, vomiting, neause, and chills. If you experience such symptoms that persist or worsen, or any other symptoms which you think may be due to Pilomax, inform your doctor.

How Pilomax Tablet Works

Pilomax is a cholinergic agonist. It works by stimulating certain nerves and glands in your body thereby increasing the production of saliva, tears, sweat, digestive juices and other secretions.

How to Use Pilomax Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pilomax may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Driving  UNSAFE
Pilomax may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Pilomax is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Liver  CAUTION

  • Inform your doctor if you have eye inflammation, suffer from asthma, liver, kidney or heart diseases, Parkinson’s disease, stomach ulcer, have problems in passing urine, high blood pressure, narrow angle glaucoma (increased eyeball pressure due to obstruction to the outflow of fluid).
  • Do not drive or operate machinery as pilocarpine causes dizziness and blurring of vision especially in the night.
  • The back layer of your eye (fundus) may be examined before starting pilocarpine therapy.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.
  • Drink sufficient water to reduce dehydration due to excessive sweating caused by pilocarpine.
  • You may be regularly monitored for visual fields and intra-ocular pressure on long term therapy with pilocarpine for glaucoma.
